Privacy policy

Appify by Connect (“Appify”) is a Shopify app made by Connect Network. It lets Shopify merchants design and publish their own iOS and Android shopping apps. This policy explains what information Appify handles for merchants who install it and for shoppers who use an app made with it, and what we do with that information.
Information about merchants
When you install Appify, we receive and store from Shopify:
- your store’s name, myshopify domain, contact email and Shopify ID;
- access tokens that let Appify read your products, collections and files, and a Storefront API token your app uses to show products and run checkout;
- your subscription plan and trial dates;
- the name, email and language of the staff member using Appify, as provided by Shopify when you open the app.
We also store what you create in Appify: your app designs, push notification campaigns, automation settings, integration settings (for example a Klaviyo public key) and app build records. If you give us an Apple App Store Connect API key to build or publish your iOS app, it is stored encrypted and used only for that purpose.
Information about shoppers using a merchant’s app
An app made with Appify sends the following to Appify on behalf of the merchant:
- a random device identifier created by the app (it is not linked to the phone’s hardware or advertising ID);
- the push notification token, platform (iOS or Android) and language, so the merchant can send notifications;
- app activity: sessions, products viewed, items added to the cart, checkouts started and completed, and notifications opened;
- the ID and item count of the shopping cart, and the products saved to the wishlist, so the app can send cart, back-in-stock and price-drop reminders;
- if the shopper signs in with their store account, their Shopify customer ID.
Shopper sign-in happens on Shopify’s own login page. Appify passes the resulting sign-in token to the app and deletes it from our servers within 15 minutes. Orders and account details are read by the app directly from Shopify; Appify does not store shoppers’ names, addresses or payment details. Checkout and payment are handled entirely by Shopify.
For shoppers, the merchant is responsible for their own privacy policy. Appify processes this information only on the merchant’s instructions, to provide the app and its features.
How we use information
- to run the builder, preview and published apps;
- to send push notifications and automated reminders that the merchant has set up;
- to show the merchant analytics about their own app;
- to build and, on the Pro plan, publish the merchant’s apps;
- to manage subscriptions and provide support.
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or combine data between merchants.
Who we share information with
We use these service providers to run Appify. Each receives only what it needs:
- Shopify: the platform Appify runs on, including billing, products and checkout.
- Fly.io: our application servers, in the United Kingdom.
- Supabase: our database, in Ireland (EU).
- Expo: delivers push notifications through Apple and Google, and builds the apps.
- Apple and Google: push delivery and app store publishing, in the merchant’s own developer accounts.
- Klaviyo: only if the merchant connects it, app activity is forwarded to the merchant’s Klaviyo account.
- Anthropic: only if the merchant uses the AI push writer, the text they type to describe a notification is sent to generate suggestions. No shopper data is sent.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep information
We keep merchant and app data while Appify is installed. When a merchant uninstalls Appify, Shopify sends us a request to erase the store’s data 48 hours later, and we then delete the store and everything linked to it, including all shopper data from its app. When Shopify asks us to delete a specific customer, we delete the push devices linked to that customer.
Your rights
Shoppers should contact the store they shop with to access or delete their data; the store can request it through Shopify, and Appify responds to those requests. Merchants can contact us at any time to access, correct or delete their information. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection authority.
Security
All traffic to Appify uses HTTPS. Access tokens and keys are kept on our servers only, and Apple keys are encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to our team.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell merchants inside the app.
